The First One

I am an absolute genius. By removing any memorialization, ceremony, or fanfare from my very first post, I have essentially removed any expected level of quality or bar of effort for my future ones, now and forever.

I’ve tried a blog thing before, spent a while building a nice site and everything. You want to know why that site doesn’t exist in the same regard that this one does? I was trying to make a good first post, a nice first impression. I wanted to set a baseline level of quality for my other work to follow in.

I don’t want that model anymore. I want to be able to write the most worthless, worthwhile, short/long form stuff that I can. So this post is for funsies. A laugh, if you will.

Heck, this might as well just be a test post of some sort. Just words on the page for the sake of being words on a page. I am being entirely serious, though I guess I am also being slightly wrong. There will always be some specialty to this post, but only since it’s my first one. It’s the one that’s at the very bottom of the scroll, the initial, the memento of the “launch day.”

And I’m squandering it, not because I disrespect it, but because I respect every other thing I do more. The attribute of being first does not make this one the “best”, or most useful, or notable in any way whatsoever. Those honors belong to the ones written later.
