The Butterfly Effect
My past couple of days have been horribly unpleasant, and it’s all because I wanted to shave ~15 minutes on my walk to class.
The weather in Houston has been kinda erratic, and I don’t check my weather app often, if ever. For weeks I’ve endured nothing but blistering heat, so I had no reason to suspect that wouldn’t continue for a long while, at least `till September or so. But alas, I’m not a fortunate fellow.
As I began my trek that fateful Wednesday, a mere five days ago, I noted dark grey skies. Odd. I knew in my heart of hearts it indicated rain and that it would be most necessary to hit the campus bookstore to buy an umbrella. However, (and I say this with great shame) I wanted to secure a spot at the front of my Calc II lecture. I’m right next to blind, and those front row seats get snapped up quick.
So I neglected to get an umbrella. How wonderful, then, that I’m met by a downpour of immense proportions on my way to class. I had never been totally soaked in rain, I realize now, until then.
It’s a miserable experience, if you’re wondering.
Worse yet, I couldn’t fit time to get an umbrella until after the accompanying Calc lab. So I was buffeted on the way to the lecture, on the way to the lab, and on the way to the bookstore to get that which I once deemed unnecessary. I’m not a fortunate fellow.
Since then, I’ve been miserably sick with what I assume is a cold, which I attribute to the rain 100%. I just cannot win.
